Tours in Perth,Western Australia National Park Tourism
Great Australian Bight Safaris (GABS) was formed in 1986 to allow those looking for more than a resort or tourist attraction to discover the beauty of the western half of South Australia.
This spectacularly beautiful, rugged and relatively untouched area has the best remote natural eco-tourism in the country. Perhaps an overused term, but it really has been “a best kept secret”. We were the first to offer these services in the region, and we continue to be a leading South Australian regional tourism provider. On extended camping trips, we tow a purpose-built trailer which provides all the equipment we might need. It includes large two-person tents [9ft x 9ft (3m x 3m)] with a head clearance of 8ft. Customers can select from a camp stretcher or air mattress for their bed and we provide sleeping bags that are wide, long and warm. And of course if you want to bring your own bedding, or sleep beneath the clear outback skies in a ‘swag’, that’s OK with us! Our bathroom facilities even include an electric shower, a luxury that many other operators do not have.
Accompanied by an experienced guide and in small groups, you can view Southern Right Whales at their winter breeding grounds, perhaps take a walk on a remote sandy beach, or ‘tag along’ in your own (high-clearance) four-wheel drive vehicle.Over the years our tours have featured in many places including “The Great Outdoors”, “Getaway” and “Postcards”. The business concept of Great Australian Bight Safaris was started by Steve and Rosemary Pocock in 1986. The business was purchased in December 2011 By Craig (Hassie) and Jo Haslam to complement a range of existing businesses under the one brand of Australian Wildlife Adventures, providing unique wildlife experiences and spectacular scenery for a range of different markets: budget, mid-range and deluxe.
